• 4th Octave bowls are considered the “standard” or most commonly used octave for crystal singing bowls. They produce a higher pitch and a bright, clear tone that resonates beautifully and is versatile for various applications.

• 3rd Octave bowls, on the other hand, produce a lower pitch and a deeper, more grounding sound. Their rich, resonant tones are ideal for creating a sense of stability and connection, making them a popular choice for those seeking a a rooted and grounded sound experience.

Choosing between 3rd and 4th Octave bowls ultimately comes down to personal preference and the type of sound you’re looking to create. Some practitioners enjoy the uplifting, light energy of 4th Octave bowls, while others are drawn to the earthy, grounding qualities of 3rd Octave bowls.

• You can also blend 3rd and 4th Octave bowls within your set to create a dynamic and harmonically rich soundscape.

Combining the two octaves allows you to access a wider range of tones, adding depth, complexity, and versatility to your practice.

This mix can be especially powerful for sessions where variety and balance are key.

Choosing Your Tuning: 440Hz, 432Hz, or 528Hz
Each tuning offers a unique experience.

• 440Hz is the modern Western standard and is ideal if you plan to play with other instruments or musicians tuned to concert pitch.

• 432Hz is often described as a more grounding, heart-centered frequency, said to resonate more naturally with the body and Earth’s rhythm.

If you're planning to incorporate your bowls into group sound journeys or play alongside traditional instruments, 440Hz is recommended for compatibility.
