The Wayunki is a beautifully unique harmonic instrument, offering a world of gentle, resonant tones

Handcrafted by Ondřej Janoušek in Prague, the Wayunki was first envisioned in 2018 following a profound sound experience during a Bufo Alvarius ceremony. From this inspiration, an entirely new instrument emerged, one that blends the qualities of bells, chimes, and singing bowls into a sound that is distinctly its own.

With six harmonically tuned tongues, the Wayunki produces soft, layered tones that seem to float and unfold in the space around you. Its delicate, bell-like resonance makes it a beautiful addition to sound baths, meditation, ceremonial work, and live musical expression.

One Instrument, Many Ways to Play

What makes the Wayunki especially captivating is its versatility. Rather than offering one fixed way of creating sound, it invites you to experiment with movement, rhythm, and your own voice.

  • Play it by hand: Gently strike the tongues with the included mallet to explore its individual notes and harmonies.

  • Move with sound: Guide the Wayunki through circular, spiraling, or pendulum-like movements to create evolving layers of resonance.

  • WAH-WAH  - using the mouthpiece on one end, create a wah wah sound with your mouth and the chime

  • Hang it as a chime: Suspend the Wayunki and allow its gentle tones to fill the surrounding space.

Thoughtfully Crafted

Made from lightweight aluminum, the Wayunki is both portable and compact and beautifully resonant.

At Dreamer Tones, we're honored to share this thoughtfully created instrument and support the vision of its original maker.

Shipping: All Wayunki instruments ship directly from our Joshua Tree, California studio.

Choosing Your Wayunki Tuning

Each Wayunki is tuned to six carefully selected notes that work together in harmony.

No musical experience is necessary. The Wayunki is designed for intuitive play, allowing you to explore its resonance freely without worrying about playing a wrong note.

Each tuning has been thoughtfully developed by the makers through an intuitive process of listening and refinement.

The Elements of Sound

Inspired by the relationship between music, nature, and the emotional qualities of different tonal arrangements, the Wayunki makers have intuitively associated their tunings with the four natural elements of the shamanic wheel:

Earth, Water, Fire, and Air.

These associations offer a beautiful way to explore the different moods of each instrument. They are invitations to listen and feel rather than fixed rules about how a tuning should be experienced.

Tuning Element Notes:

F# Minor – Water: G# – A – E – C# – A – F#

G Major – Air: G – B – F# – D – B – G

G/C Minor – Fire: A# – D – G – D# – C – G

A/D Minor – Earth: A – C – F – D – C – A

G/C Major – Air: A – C – G – E – C – G

Finding Your Resonance

In Indian classical music, the tradition of raga explores how particular arrangements of notes, melodic movements, and musical expressions can evoke distinct moods and atmospheres.

In a similar spirit of attentive listening, each Wayunki tuning offers a different sonic landscape to explore.

We encourage you to listen to the available sound recordings and notice which tuning naturally draws you in. Some may feel spacious and uplifting, while others may invite a quieter, more introspective experience.

There is no right or wrong choice. The most meaningful tuning is often the one you feel naturally connected to.
